Throughout the history of the Gnostic Church, from
its very origins in the proto-orthodox Middle-East prior
to the disruption of Nicaea, through the many churches
and schools co-existing through the 10th century, through
the period of tribulation from that point through the
inquisition, and persisting through the Reformation
until her public proclamation of visibility in the 19th
century by Jules Doinel, she has adapted to her environment,
                          thereby seeing to her survival.
In every age, the Gnostic Church has existed, sometimes
quietly, to oppose the power-hungry, ego-centric and
materialistic World with her emphasis on pure spirituality,
Knowledge of the Divine (Gnosis), Truth and
                          Justice.
Recent years have brought to the forefront the obvious
necessity to re-establish the Gnostic Church as an alternative
to the exponentially increasing number of self-styled
Gnostic groups with their pomp and circumstance, grandiose
titles, eclectic superficiality, and their tendecy to
be naught but façades for occultism and cults
                          of personality..
Writing forty years ago, our esteemed brother Déodat
Roché made the following statement which clarifies
                          our position on this matter:

« This impetus toward a better future,
provided by the Cathars, was preoccupied with the
problem of evil in the world, [and] it sees that building
a fraternal society is profound spirituality and takes
hold of the elements of this natural world in order
to transfigure them and restore the shadows to uprightness
by uplifting them to the light of the Spirit! »

And so, we of the Gnostic Church , compelled to preserve
this profound spirituality, having spent time in retreat
and contemplation, proclaim a further renewal of the
Gnostic Church , and of the Interior Sanctuary in particular,
as we perpetuate our mission in this world. It is, indeed,
difficult to sever all ties with the movements that
have seen us through to this time. Consequently, the
casual onlooker will see vestiges of those previous
eras in the stages of the teleological progression encountered
                          in our Tradition.
During the worst times of persecution by the powers
of the world, our brother Guillaume Bélibaste
made a prophecy: « Al cap dels sèt
cent ans, verdejara lo laurèl ». This
prophecy, made in 1309, stated that toward the end of
700 years the laurel would once again become green.
We note that the time is right, and the fraternal society
based upon Truth and Justice shall bring peace to her
                          people.
In the month of May, at the time of Pentecost, in the
year 1176, a certain Nicetas (sometimes called Niquinta)
came to Saint Félix to confer the Baptism of
the Holy Spirit and to consecrate Bishops for the Church
of God . In commemoration thereof, we of the Eglise
Gnostique have met, on the day of Pentecost in the oriental
traditions, being the 19th of June 2005 , to confer
the Spiritual Baptism upon her ministers for the continuation
of the Gnostic Church in the present age, ever bearing
in mind what our traditions tells us:

« This holy baptism, by which the Holy
Spirit is given, the Church of God has preserved from
the apostles until this time and it has passed from
good Christian to good Christian until the present
moment, and it will continue to do so until the end
                            of the world. »

Given by the Council of the Eglise Gnostique, convening
in the Diocese of Carcassonne of the Americas this 19th
day of June 2005 at the time of Pentecost.
